- Ground-breaking ceremony to start the construction of the new wing of the Canadian National-owned Hotel Nova Scotian in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The ceremony begins with the playing of O Canada. Among the officials present are: Mr. [Somerville], the general manager of Canadian National Hotels; R.B. [Brunan], a member of the board of directors, who is representing CN President Donald Gordon; and Halifax Mayor Vaughan, who turns the first sod. The ceremony includes a speech about new CN railway services.
