Description:
- When banker William Wright's stenographer, Daisy Dean (Lois Weber), sprains her ankle, her employer offers to drive her to and from work for several days. This arrangement, although innocent, leads to the spread of malicious gossip among Daisy's neighbours and the members of Wright's club, and soon Mrs. Wright files for divorce. Daisy's fiancé John Austin breaks their engagement, but she later finds happiness as Robert Gordon's wife. After her baby is born, Daisy renews her acquaintance with John, whose fiancée lives nearby. John, deeply in love with his new sweetheart, marries, and while Robert is away on business, he and his young wife ask Daisy to accompany them on a drive. Robert's meddling sister Susan misconstrues John's friendliness and wires her brother, who returns home in a jealous rage. When John, whose car had broken down on the trip, arrives with Daisy very late that night, Robert shoots him and is consequently executed for murder. Broken, Daisy tries to commit suicide but is saved by her old employer Wright (Phillips Smalley), whose own business and personal life was completely ruined by the spread of idle gossip.
