Description:
- Gambler John Keefe (Lionel Barrymore) kills the wealthy New Yorker Robert Barrington (Richard Morris), who is visiting the West, and forges a bill of sale for Barrington’s Long Island racing stables. Keefe then goes to New York, followed by a suspicious sheriff, John Garrison (Glenn White). There they both fall in love with Barrington’s daughter, Henrietta (Lillian Russell). When a sheet of the stable’s bill of sale drops from Garrison’s pocket, Henrietta begins to distrust him and after an associate of Keefe’s tries to steal the missing sheet, Henrietta accuses Garrison of being in league with Keefe. Garrison then tells her of her father’s death. Keefe bribes the jockey of Wildfire, the crack filly in the stable. He is to throw the big race if the stable flag is raised. Henrietta learns of this and races to lower the flag. After a struggle with Keefe she succeeds in pulling the flag down. Garrison thrashes Keefe as Wildfire wins. Henrietta then accepts Garrison’s proposal. <40mn 27s>
