Description:
- This film begins with a shot of a man standing in front of his store. He stops a lady and shakes her hand. The intertitle reads: "When Work was to be done the Proprietor had to hunt up the Lady-Killer." Two other ladies also stop to talk. The man's boss comes out to get him. The intertitle reads: "Sometimes Customers would break in on his Social Engagement." Inside the store, the young man leaves a customer to speak to the first young woman again. The boss tells him to help the customer, but the young man is too busy. He finally leaves to serve the customer. The boss tells the young woman to leave. The customer stops to complain about the clerk on the way out. The intertitle says: "He wore out the Phone talking to his Baby-Doll." He calls his girlfriend from the store, until the boss returns and pulls the phone away from him. The next intertitle reads: "The Proprietor had to cut expenses." There is a shot of the boss puzzling over his books. The clerk walks by and the boss' face lights up. We see the girlfriend outside the store. The next intertitle says "Canned". She is still standing there when the clerk emerges, with a pail attached to his belt They race off. She is trying to catch up to him. Outside the store, the boss posts a sign for a new clerk. The final intertitle reads: "Moral: Don't let Essie interfere with your Meal Ticket,"1
