- Recording of the opening ceremony of Canadian National Railway's Matagami branch line. O Canada and God Save The Queen are played and then the Manager of the Quebec Area introduces the invited guests and speakers. President of CN Donald Gordon makes a speech about CN's pioneering spirit and the huge effort involved in the construction of this line. The Member of Parliament for Quebec South J.C. Contain then talks about expansion in Northern Quebec and officially opens the line. Monseigneur Gaston Duchmain blesses the line and the guests board the train for a trip to Matagami Lake Mine.
