He installs the Detecto-graph, with a microphone at the dining room table, with a wire running down to the basement. Intertitle reads: "The inimitable Comique brought Home one that he had heard at the Cigar Store." Shot of the husband at the dinner table. He is telling his joke. Intertitle reads: "The Detective had the Listener to his Ear and was hearing the Worst." Shot of the detective with his earphones on, looking disgusted. At the dinner table, the husband is still laughing. Intertitle reads: "The Detective had to take it down. Oh, how he suffered." Another shot of the detective. Intertitle reads: "At the divorce Trial. The Judge - Rapley Holmes." In the courtroom, the detective hands evidence to the lawyer. Intertitle reads: "The Lawyer: Here is an exact copy of what he pulled on her." The judge reads the material -- it drives him to tears. He calls the husband and wife up to the bench for the decision. Intertitle reads: "The Judge: the Charge of Cruelty has been proven beyond question. Divorce granted -- Alimony $100 a week!" The judge shakes hands with the wife.
