The deed was signed by three Seneca sachems (supreme chiefs) identified as Dekoschten (also known as Tenehokaiwee), Twessa (or Tewassajes) and Staichreseh (or Staghreche).Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Seneca Nation : The Seneca nation (Onondowahgah, or The People of the Great Hill) are the western-most members of the original Haudenosaunee Confederacy (also known as the Iroquois Confederacy). Their ancestral territory is located between the Genesee River and the city of Canandaigua in New York State. The Seneca people continue to live in western New York State, primarily on the Cattaraugus, Allegany, and Tonawanda reservations.Additional information:General note:A number of Seneca people also reside in Oklahoma on the Seneca-Cayuga Reservation, and on the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory, located near Brantford, Ontario.
